GREEK REVIVAL
Historic Color Statements
In the beginning of the nineteen century, still inspired by the classical period, the American architecture began to slide towards a style more inspired by ancient Greece: porticos supported by prominent square or rounded columns, enormous windows and doors, gabled or hipped roof of low pitch, cornice line of main roof and porch roofs emphasized with wide band of trim. Most of GREEK REVIVAL frame house were painted white in reference of the marble of the ancient Greek.
