COLONIAL / FEDERAL
Historic Color Statements
The COLONIAL / FEDERAL style was characterized by simple construction techniques like rectangular plan, two roof slopes and symmetrical windows.
From 1780, with the influence of the architecture of ancient Rome, the houses are moving away from strictly rectangular, curved lines adopt and promote decorative details such as garlands and urns. Homes are decorated with Palladian windows, circular or elliptical windows, recessed wall arches, and oval–shaped rooms. Color also played an important role in the development of this style.
