Granite Finish (natural sea sponge)
Sea-sponging is an easy and effective technique that will result in a dramatic look simply by overlapping color and texture.
Step 1 Preparation
-
Clean surface if necessary.
Step 2 Base Color
-
Using a roller, apply a Pittsburgh® Paints latex paint Lilac Sachet 246-4 as a base color.
-
Allow to dry 6 to 8 hours.
Step 3 Texture
-
In a plastic container, blend 3 parts Clear Blending Glaze to 1 part eggshell finish latex paint, color Blueberry Patch 346-6.
-
Pour into a pan.
-
Dip a natural sea sponge in water and wring it out well, so that it is just barely damp. Dip the sponge lightly into the tinted glaze and blot off any excess onto the pan.
- Begin dabbing the first section of glaze with a light blotting motion. Vary the position of the sponge, rotating it to create random pattern and texture.
-
The glaze allows for an open time of approximately
15 minutes. Repeat the process until you cover the entire wall and be sure not to overload the design.
-
Allow to dry.
-
When the first coat is completely dry, you can repeat the application steps by sponging on additional colored glazes until you obtain your desired effect.
-
Allow 6 to 8 hours to dry.
