Antique Finish (Brush)
This special "negative" antiquing technique creates an intimate atmosphere and style by removing paint with a brush.
Step 1 Preparation
-
Clean surface if necessary.
Step 2 Base Color
-
Using a roller, apply a Pittsburgh® Paints latex paint Peach Dip 119-4 as a base color.
-
Allow 6 to 8 hours to dry.
Step 3 Texture
-
In a plastic container, blend 3 parts Clear Blending Glaze to 1 part eggshell finish latex paint, color Georgian Leather 224-5.
-
Pour into a pan.
-
Using a roller, apply the tinted glaze, working in
36 in x 36 in irregular sections.
-
Holding an almost-dry brush perpendicular to the surface, drag the brush through the wet glaze coat, dabbing in different directions and pouncing the surface to create texture.
-
To keep consistent texture, remove excess glaze from brush, by blotting on paper towels, old rags or newspapers.
-
Repeat the process until you cover the entire wall.
-
The glaze allows for an open time of approximately
15 minutes.
-
Keep a wet edge and blend from one area to the next to avoid leaving hard demarcation lines between sections.
