Required tools:
-
Flexible metal spatula
-
Damp rag
-
Pail of water
-
Masking tape
-
Even-sided plastic containers in which to mix the glaze
-
Mixing sticks
The base
-
Mask the perimeter of the ceiling to protect those areas that will not be painted.
-
Apply two coats of
Pinneapple Delight
211-3
on the ceiling. Let dry at least six hours between coats.
The texture
-
Use the plastic containers to mix the colors that will be used in achieving the decorative effect with the
Clear Blending
Glaze. Be sure to respect the prescribed proportion i.e.: 3 parts Clear Blending Glaze to one part paint.
-
Use a spatula to apply the
Blaze 333-7
in such a way as to leave splotches, about 3 x 3 inch to 6 x 6 inch, unevenly spread over the surface of the ceiling. The effect is more attractive when splotches are irregular and scattered. Let dry completely before applying more glaze. It's important to use the spatula in a movement that is parallel to the surface in order to spread and smooth the glaze rather than scraping it on.
-
Repeat step 4 using
Holly Leaf 402-7
tinted glaze, slightly overlapping the Blaze 333-7
tinted glaze. The splotches may be in different sizes.
-
Repeat step 4 using
Oregano 310-6
tinted glaze, nearly covering the entire surface of the ceiling. You'll find it interesting to see the splotches of Blaze and Holly Leaf definitely show through the
Oregano-glaze.
